Info: Perennial medicinal and seasoning herb with vigorous growth, height up to 200 cm. The plant known as 'Maggi herb' is strongly aromatic. The young leaves are mainly used for soups, sauces, and meat dishes, while the finely chopped root is used for soups or tea. Diuretic. Use sparingly.
Care: Best sown in trays, press lightly, do not cover with soil (light germinator!) and keep moist. Prick out 1 - 2 times and plant out in open ground in autumn or spring with a spacing of 50x100 cm. Prefers sunny to semi-shady locations and all moist, humus-rich, even clayey soils.
Tip: Freeze the leaves for preservation. They are not suitable for drying as they lose their seasoning strength. Always cook with dishes.
Sowing: February - March indoors, August in open ground
Germination: 14 - 20 days at 18 - 22°C, light germinator
Harvest: May - November, from March in the 2nd year
