Info: Annual. This sunflower cultivar has simple, medium-sized flowers in large numbers, with dark brown flower discs and a friendly, golden yellow color. The plants branch well and bloom over a long period. The 10 to 12 cm large flower heads are particularly durable. Plant height 140 cm.
Care: Pre-cultivation takes place in a warm environment (greenhouse/windowsill), sown 2-3 cm deep (germinates in darkness) in pots, about 2-3 seeds per pot. From mid-May (frost-free), the plants can be planted outdoors, but should be acclimatized to outside temperatures (hardened off) beforehand. From mid-May, direct sowing can be done outdoors, directly in place. Keep temperatures and moisture constant. Use sowing soil! Plant spacing 50x50 cm.
Use: Piccolo is particularly suitable for vase cutting, as well as for planting along fences and flower beds.
Gardener's Tip: Nutrient-rich, well-drained soil and sufficient moisture promote good development. Additional fertilization is advantageous. The durability of sunflowers increases enormously when the stems are placed in boiling water for about 1 minute. Then immediately place them in the vase.
Sowing: Pre-cultivation: March - April; Direct sowing: May - mid-June
Germination: 7-14 days at 15°C
Location: Sunny
Bloom: From July - September
