Info: Perennial. Chive garlic is something special because the flat leaves taste, season, and act like garlic. However, the typical smell quickly dissipates - consumption brings you the benefits of garlic without the known disadvantages. Chive garlic can be cultivated like chives. It can even be forced on the windowsill in winter.
Care: Lightly cover the seeds with soil, sowing depth approximately 1 cm. Chive garlic thrives in any soil in a sunny or partially shaded location. The hardy plants can be cut multiple times and will regrow. Some twig protection in winter is recommended. Plant spacing approximately 25x25 cm.
Usage: For seasoning meat dishes, fish, salads, egg and pasta dishes, potatoes, and soups.
Gardener's tip: From August, chive garlic develops beautiful white flowers on approximately 60 cm long stiff stems. They can be cut well, then they make durable cut flowers for vases and arrangements.
