Info: "Celesta" is a variety with large, round, red tubers that are particularly tender, do not burst, and do not tend to become woolly. These radishes with their mild but spicy taste mature quickly and form only short foliage. The variety is suitable for cultivation outdoors, under film/fleece, as well as in frost-free greenhouses. "Celesta" has a natural resistance (tolerance) to downy mildew, a disease that spreads particularly in the low-light season and causes the plants to rot.
Care: Optimal germination temperature at a constant 8 - 10°C. Germination period about 6 - 12 days. Sowing depth: 0.5 - 1 cm. Row spacing: 20 cm, thin out to 5 - 7 cm. Radishes need light and require a sunny location. They thrive in any humus-rich garden soil.
Usage: The spicy tubers are served as an appetizer with beer, prepared as a salad, or enjoyed as a bread accompaniment.
Gardener's tip: Pay attention to planting distances (5 - 7 cm between individual radishes), otherwise bolting will occur. Additionally, due to the short germination period, radishes are well-suited as marker seeds for slow-germinating species (onions, carrots).
Sowing: Film: January - April/September; Open field: March - August
Germination: 6 - 12 days at 8 - 10°C
Location: Sunny
Harvest: About 4 weeks after sowing
