Info: "Myrna" is a variety with finely serrated leaves. Mainly bolt-resistant. For harvest from summer to autumn. Frisee endives are very tasty as a salad due to their fine, pleasant, nutty aroma with a crunchy texture.
Care: Myrna is a robust variety that withstands wet-cold weather as well as summer temperatures with little tendency to bolt. Sow shallowly in rows in the seedbed or cold frame. Sowing depth: 0.5 - 1 cm. Plant spacing 25x25 cm.
Use: The large heads with a lot of leaf mass are suitable for fresh processing and can also be stored in the refrigerator for a long time.
Gardener's tip: By tying or covering (e.g. with a soup plate) the endive heads, you get light yellow, so-called bleached (low in bitter substances) leaves that are even finer and more pleasant in taste. The "bleaching" should occur a few weeks before harvest.
Sowing: Outdoors: May - July
Germination: 8 - 15 days at 18 - 25°C soil temperature
Location: Sunny. Nutrient-rich, humus-rich, and moist soil
Harvest: July - October
